U2 in Manila…Hopefully

OMG, so the rumors are true…it’s confirmed that U2 concert negotiations are underway. Since Kinder ako may rumors na magcoconcert ang U2 dito 0_O

MANILA, Philippines - As talk persisted among internet chat groups that the Irish rock band U2 is set to play in Manila, Inquirer Entertainment sought to verify the wild rumor.

The information we gathered was exciting enough to share with readers. “Yes, we’re working on it,” said an officer of Concertus, an events, concerts and marketing affiliate of MTV Philippines.

Absofuckinglutely psyched. Hopefully there’s no front act band because there are so many great U2 songs and I’m greedy so I want to hear it all live. My favorite U2 albums are All That You Can’t Leave Behind and The Joshua Tree. All That You Can’t Leave Behind because I lurrrve every song in it. Whenever I feel down I blast “Walk On” in my iPod and pretend I’m on stage with Bono and sing (more like scream) my heart out. I imagine Bono as my personal life coach, LOL. As for The Joshua Tree, I still have the cassette tape. You can’t be an 80’s kid and not have your own memories of The Joshua Tree. I maybe too young that time to relate to the cathartic songs of Joshua Tree but as I grow old and kept listening over and over to this album — I just fell in love even more with the beautiful lyrics and melodies. I remember sparked debates with my first grade crush, who listens to his Walkman all day, rewinds cassette tapes of Fra Lippo Lippi with a pencil and argues about who was better between Fra Lippo Lippi and U2. Duhhhh, it was not even a competition. I also like Fra Lippo Lippi but that’s another 80’s story.

I will treat my uber 80’s fanatic brothers to this concert. If I can’t afford to buy 4 front seat tickets, ako na lang sa harap, sa general patronage na lang sila. But while waiting for our prayers to be answered don’t forget to see U2 Live in 3d this April @ Imax, SM Mall of Asia.

It would be very expensive to bring them to Manila, they may have to do 2 to 3 shows just to get back the expenses they spent for the massive equipment they bring. I have been a U2 fan for 25 years now and it was my dream to watch them live in Manila. I have been waiting for many many years for them to come to manila until last Nov 2006 I decided to go alone to Sydney just to watch them live. It was a dream come true, worth all the money I spent. Bringing back memories of the 80s when I was still young in my room, dreaming of seeing them live in a big stadium singing “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for”

actually bawal magvideo sa loob, but nobody cared when they started playing. Tickets were sold out within one hour of sale.
